SimComm Academy offers a wide range of impactful workshops that use simulation or enactment to create authentic scenarios, brought to life by skilled actor role players to enhance communication skills. All our workshops are based on real experiences adopting participatory simulation where attendees will be invited to put their learning into action supported by our actors and facilitators. Communication, civility & culture

Communication, civility, and culture are at the core of a safe and effective workplace and team. Our workshops are designed to enhance participants’ confidence and awareness in all aspects of communication and how these impact on the workplace culture and psychological safety of all.

Civility and Positive behaviour – To immerse participants in ‘real life’ scenarios enabling recognition of how people feel, identifying kindness and compassion, recognising and challenging incivility, and using role modelling to create a safe working environment.

Motivational interviewing – To use a patient-centred communication technique to support and empower patients to explore lifestyle changes.

Leadership & development

Our leadership and development courses incorporate the core principles underpinning the management of a safe and effective workforce, including inclusivity, role modelling, performance management and workplace culture.

Managing challenging conversation – To understand why conflict occurs and to develop effective communication skills and strategies when dealing with difficult conversations. 

Performance Management – To develop communication and leadership skills in challenging performance management situations.

Conflict Management – To identify and manage conflict and demonstrate conflict resolution strategies.

Mental health, wellbeing, resilience & compassion fatigue

Mental health, wellbeing, resilience and compassion fatigue are becoming increasingly important given the recognised current challenges faced within healthcare. Our mental health courses are tailored to furnish participants with the skills they need to support themselves, colleagues, and service users with mental health difficulties.

Mental Health and Well-being – This introductory course raises awareness of mental health concerns and teaches essential support skills.

Equality, diversity & inclusion

Designed to raise awareness and challenge both conscious and unconscious bias in order to support a diverse population and workforce, linking the four pillars of allyship across all protected characteristics.

Allyship – To provide teams with the opportunity to listen, talk, hear and learn about how to be a better ally to colleagues who may experience any form of discrimination or prejudice.
